When high cards are depleted from the remaining deck, the dealer gains a mathematical advantage. The dealer must hit on totals of 16 or less (a rule that hurts players when low cards dominate) and benefits from busting fewer hands. Conversely, when high cards remain abundant in the shoe, players gain an edge because:
